Juan Ponsoda

He carried out his studies in Alicante, Madrid and Zaragoza, where he obtained his Master’s Degree as a Percussion Professor with Manel Ramada.


He attended performing and improvement courses taught by Peter Prommel Andrea Schneider, Emmanuel Sejourné, Robert Van Sice, Bogdan Bacanu, Simom Levey  and Juanjo Guillem amongst others.


He collaborated with different musical ensembles as the Spanish National Orchestra, the Madrid Community Orchestra, the Cordoba Orchestra, Castilla – Leon Symphony Orchestra, the “Enigma Group” – Chamber Music Orchestra of the Zaragoza Hall, the Symphonic Orchestra of Chamartin (Madrid), Alcoyana Symphony Orchestra, Madrid New Philharmonic Orchestra, “Per-se-cusion” percussion ensemble, Symphonieorchester from the Jugend-Festspiel Treffen of Bayreuth (Germany) or the Orcherter des 33 from the Internationalen Musikkurses der Jeunesses Musicales in Switzerland.


He has been conducted by prestigious conductors such as: Rafael Frübeck de Burgos, Antoni Wit, Enrique García Asensio, Leo Brouwer, Arturo Tamayo, George Pehlivanian, Pinchas Steinberg, Miguel Roa, Rubén Gimeno, Josep Pons, etc.


Juan Ponsoda performed for the first time plays from outstanding composers like: Daniel Adams, Joaquin Homs, Agustín Charles, Llorenç Barber, Pedro Guajardo, Angel Ll. Ferrando and José María Valls amongst others.


On the 29th of December, Juan Ponsoda carried out the European Prèmiere of the original play for soloist Percussionist and Symphonic Band called “Isorhytmic Concerto”, composed by Daniel Adams (this play was awarded with the Third prize in the Annual Composition Contest of the PAS). The play was performed by the Musical Society “La Alianza” from Mutxamel (Alicante) and conducted by Angel Lluis Ferrando.


Nowadays, he works as a Percussion Professor in the Conservatorio Profesional in Valladolid.
